The 40ft or 12 metre length means this steel structure really is generous for space! 40ft steel tunnel containers provide an extra foot in height for those oversized items, the cost difference between a standard and a high cube 40ft container is minimal. Tunnel containers are equipped with two sets of cargo doors; one set at the front and one set at the
end. The easy access provided by two sets of cargo doors makes this container type ideal for storing
palletised equipment, bulky items and for easily managing stock flow. One of the things we often
hear about 40ft containers is that it can be difficult to access items at the back of the unit. Tunnel
containers eradicate this problem completely with their dual access points. Tunneltainers are often
used as temporary bridges during construction and are commonly used on self-storage sites with a
fitted steel bulkhead to split the unit into two 20ft containers, or to use as large multi-stores.

Tunnel containers, like all other standard shipping containers, are manufactured in China using COR-TEN steel with 28mm marine ply wood flooring set on steel cross members. They are certified to meet ISO regulations and are CSC plates*. The units hold 4 vents, two forklift pockets and each door leaf is fitted with two steel locking bars. The cargo doors are also fitted with a steel lockbox for extra security**.
