Painting and Decals for Shipping Containers
Do you require painting and/or decals for your shipping container?
Shipping containers are a fantastic option for dry storage, whether that be commercial or domestic, it’s important that the containers appearance is suitable for its surrounding environment. Fresh paintwork is a fantastic way to improve the appearance of a used shipping container. Containers come in limited colours but that doesn’t matter, as we can paint them in a whole rainbow of different colours! You may need to brand your container (which is where decals come in), camouflage them with their surroundings or repaint to spruce it up! Whatever your reasons, we can help!
Marine Grade Shipping Container Paint for long lasting results
The paint we use for shipping containers is marine grade container paint. It is designed to protect the COR-TEN steel containers when they are being used in harsh marine environments. Corten steel, also known as weathering steel, was designed for its corrosion resistance and tensile strength and for those reasons it is used for the manufacture of shipping containers. The steel resists the effects of water by forming a rust like appearance when exposed to weather. By painting raw Corten shipping containers, the steel is treated which in turn improves the longevity of the units.
Used Shipping Container Painting
Used shipping containers are between 10 – 15 years old and have travelled on the sea and been handled by heavy plant in container depots for most of this time. The nature of used shipping containers means that they will have dents, rust, scrapes and faded paintwork, so whilst they are structurally sound and watertight, aesthetically they cannot be guaranteed. We predominantly stock used containers in blue, yellow or red oxide, if these colours are unsuitable for your site or you need the unit to look clean, we recommend that the container is repainted.
New Shipping Container Painting
All new shipping containers are primed and painted in a standard RAL colour when they’re built, for the UK market these are usually blue and green. The once shipped containers typically have no need to be repainted other than if the container needs to match corporate colours or blend into its surroundings. We do however recommend that all containers, including new, are repainted following external modification.
Shipping containers are painted with high quality, marine grade acrylic paint using a spray gun to give an even spread over the surface.
We can paint containers in most of our nationwide container depots or we can carry out paintwork on site.
Applying a fresh layer of shipping container paint will provide a barrier between the steel and the ever-changing Great British weather which will prolong the life of the container and improve its appearance.
The shipping container paint colour options are all based on the standard RAL colour chart.
We hold different shades of blue or green in stock along with a few other colours.
We offer a few different standards of external painting from a basic full blow over to a single RAL colour (which is what will be quoted for unless otherwise specified) to more in depth options which can include removing decals, door gears, masking door seals, cleaning the unit to remove flaking paint or rust before painting. Containers can also be repainted internally if required.
